Lads, we’ve come to the end of another season.
We still have two nights of playoffs, but I want to put it out there now that I think it’s been a fantastic season. I’m so happy we maintained a good turnout, and want that enthusiasm to continue.
Final stats are now posted, and that means we have our setup for the two weeks of playoffs. Here are your final “A” and “B” division splits:

A reminder of next steps…
April 22 – first night of playoffs, it will be a round-robin with the five teams in your division. One game of 1001 against each team, so that means 4 rounds of play with a bye round .
Each division will have two boards designated for play, and a full schedule provided for each team. Those schedules will also be record sheets, so please record all your own wins and losses, HOWEVER we will also have a master record keeping board, and the WINNER of each game is expected to report the result back to the official scorekeeper.
That makes just 5 rounds of 1001 for the night, so it should be a shorter night of play, but that allows us the time to take care of the administrative stuff we need to address…
MOST SPORTSMANLIKE TEAM – Sponsored by Dan and Mike Villeneuve – This award is voted on by all members of the league. At the beginning of the night a ballot will be provided to all players, and everyone can record their vote for the team they felt was most amenable to fair and friendly play.
EXECUTIVE ELECTIONS – there are five positions that are elected each year by the league players:
President (Incumbent: Chris Foren)
Vice-President (Incumbent: Reg Lamothe)
Treasurer (Incumbent: Chris Foren)
Statistics (Incumbent: Jeff Francom)
Rules (Incumbent: Pat Lynch)
Notably, our current VP has moved out of town, and we need someone to step up for that. Anyone that may want input into the way things happen is encouraged to consider being a part of this. I can tell you that I, as president, frequently look to the other executive members for input or affirmation.
NOTE FOR THE OLD SCHOOL FOLKS – TWO THINGS ARE CHANGING:
- NOMINATIONS FOR EACH POSITION ARE ALWAYS ALLOWED, AND IF THE INDIVIDUAL ACCEPTS THAT NOMINATION, THEY WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR ELECTION, HOWEVER A NOMINATION IS NOT REQUIRED, AND ANY INDIVIDUAL WISHING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A POSITION CAN PUT FORTH THEIR OWN NAME
- UNCHALLENGED INCUMBENCIES ARE CONSIDERED ELECTED. Too much time was previously wasted on nominating an uninterested individual for unnecessary or unwanted reasons. If an individual is willing to stand for their current position, and there is no individual willing to run to replace them, the original holder of the position shall be considered elected to that position and hold it for the following year.
I’ll reiterate all this next Monday, but I do hope you’ll take this under consideration, and I would definitely like someone to step up for the vice presidency, especially if you haven’t gotten involved before, as any new viewpoints are welcomed.
See you all Monday,
Chris Foren
